Scrabble bingo bonus calculator

Seven tiles worth 10, 1, 1, 10, 10, 1 and 1 make a 34-point word, and the bingo bonus lifts it to 84. Add letter and word premiums and settle the score before anyone argues. Free in your browser.

In Scrabble and similar crosswords, using all seven tiles from your rack in a single turn awards a fifty-point bingo bonus on top of the word score. Players and club directors still miscount when double and triple letter squares sit under high-value tiles, when a double or triple word multiplies the whole stem, or when they forget the bingo entirely after a long anagram. This Scrabble bingo bonus calculator accepts the seven face values of the tiles you played, optional per-tile letter multipliers for premium squares, and a combined word multiplier, then returns letter sum, word score, the fixed bingo bonus, and the final total. Failed validation is not billed.

What a Scrabble bingo is and how the fifty-point bonus is applied

A bingo in Scrabble means you emptied your rack of all seven tiles on one turn. Official tournament rules award a flat fifty-point bonus for that feat, added after letter and word premiums for the main word are resolved. The face values of English Scrabble tiles are fixed by the set: blank tiles score zero, common vowels and consonants score one, mid-value letters score two through five, and the rare Q and Z score ten.

When a newly placed tile covers a double letter or triple letter square, only that tile face value is multiplied before the word total is formed. When the word covers one or more double word or triple word squares, the combined product of those word premiums multiplies the entire letter sum after letter premiums. Only then is the fifty-point bingo added.

Crosswords formed by the same play may add extra scores under full table rules; this calculator focuses on the seven-tile main play plus bingo so you can verify the headline total quickly.

When a quick bingo tally settles the table

Club night scorekeepers use a Scrabble bingo bonus calculator to double-check a claimed seven-tile play before writing the sheet, especially when premium squares stack under a high Q or Z. Teaching sites and app tutorials need a deterministic oracle that always adds fifty after multipliers so learners can see why a play jumped by more than the letters alone. Tournament software and digital scoreboards can call the same pure module from edge workers without shipping a full rules engine.

Keep tile lists short, pin totals in tests, and you get reproducible bingo scores for classrooms, clubs, and APIs without maintaining separate front-end math.

Club score-sheet double-checks

Verify a claimed seven-tile bingo: enter face values and premiums, confirm word score plus the fifty-point bonus before writing the official sheet.

Teaching premium squares and bingo

Show students how letter multipliers, word multipliers, and the fixed bingo stack: letter sum first, then word product, then plus fifty.

How do I calculate a Scrabble bingo score?

Send exactly seven tile face values, optional letter multipliers (1/2/3 each), and an optional word multiplier (1–9).

Why must there be exactly seven tiles?

Standard Scrabble awards the fifty-point bingo only when all seven rack tiles are used in one turn.

How are double and triple letter squares handled?

Each face value is multiplied by its letter premium before the word multiplier and bingo are applied.

How many points is a Scrabble bingo worth?

Fifty points, added on top of the word score once letter and word premiums are applied. In the example, a word worth 34 becomes 84 with the bonus.

Does a double word square also double the bingo bonus?

No. The word premium multiplies the letter sum only, and the fixed bonus is added afterwards, so it stays at 50 whatever premium squares the word covers.

What a Scrabble bingo is and how the fifty-point bonus is applied

If you played fewer or more than seven tiles from the rack, there is no bingo under standard rules, and this endpoint rejects the request rather than silently omitting the bonus.

Input contract, multipliers, response shape, and errors

Example: face values ten, one, one, ten, ten, one, one with a double letter on the first Z-class tile and word multiplier two yield letter sum forty-four, word score eighty-eight, bingo fifty, total one hundred thirty-eight. POST a JSON body with tile_values: an array of exactly seven non-negative integers, each the face point value of one tile played from the rack. Optional letter_multipliers is an array of seven integers restricted to one, two, or three for plain, double letter, and triple letter coverage; when omitted every multiplier defaults to one. Optional word_multiplier is an integer from one through nine representing the product of all double and triple word squares the main word covers; default one means no word premium. Each field may arrive as JSON numbers or as numeric strings; letter arrays may also be sent as a JSON string or a comma-separated list. On success the body echoes tiles_played seven, the normalized tile_values and letter_multipliers arrays, word_multiplier, letter_sum, word_score, bingo_bonus fifty, total_score, is_bingo true, and a short formula string. Missing arrays, wrong length, letter multipliers outside one to three, word multiplier outside one to nine, or non-integer faces fail with invalid_input and are not billed.

Apps and tournament tooling

Call a deterministic parse API from scoreboards or study apps so bingo totals match across clients without reimplementing Scrabble arithmetic.

What is the word_multiplier field?

It is the product of all double and triple word squares covered by the main word (for example 2, 3, 4, 6, or 9). Default 1 means no word premium. Allowed range is 1 through 9.

What does the Scrabble bingo bonus calculator cost?

The browser tool is free. API requests use prepaid KIT balance at $0.002 per successful call; invalid input is not billed.
