Repeat text

Type ha with a count of 3 and get hahaha, or add a hyphen between copies for ha-ha-ha. Repeat any text from 1 to 10000 times to build dividers, star ratings, masks or practice rows. Free in your browser.

An optional separator sits between each copy so you can build patterns such as ha-ha-ha, comma-separated labels, or padded fill markers without writing a loop by hand. The engine is fully deterministic: it concatenates or joins plain strings, never calls the network, never samples randomness, and never depends on the clock. Empty source text is also rejected, matching the rest of the free string tools in this catalog.

What repeating text means and what you get back

String repetition means writing the same source text a fixed number of times and optionally inserting a separator between consecutive copies. In practice that means the fragment ha with count three becomes hahaha when no separator is set, and ha-ha-ha when the separator is a single hyphen. A single character such as an asterisk with count five becomes five stars in a row, which is useful for password masks, progress placeholders, and simple visual dividers.

This calculator returns six stable fields: text holds the repeated result you will copy or store, original echoes the exact input string so you can audit what was expanded, count records the integer used for the run, separator records the glue string (empty when none was provided), length reports the character count of the result, and method is the fixed tag repeat for logs and multi-tool pipelines. There is no reverse mode, no random jitter between copies, and no silent coercion of a missing count into one.

Where text repetition fits in study, design, and software

Students meet repetition when a programming exercise asks for a string multiplied by n, when a worksheet wants a row of identical tokens for counting practice, or when a data-entry lab builds dummy SKUs by stacking a prefix a fixed number of times. Teachers can pre-generate answer keys that show the expected joined form without trusting opaque office macros that insert extra spaces mid-file.

Designers and producers use repeated separators for scoreboard lines, table borders in plain text, placeholder stars for ratings, and accessibility checks where a device only renders simple character fills. Support and operations teams paste a short marker and a count to build visual dividers in logs and runbooks without opening a spreadsheet. Pair it with uppercase, slug, or character-count tools when you are building a small lab of free, deterministic text helpers for forms, CMS prep, and data hygiene.

Build patterns and fillers

Repeat a short token with or without a separator to make dividers, star ratings, masks, and practice rows.

Data prep and labels

Stack product codes, labels, or markers a fixed number of times before import, export, or batch printing.

What does the repeat-text tool cost?

It is free in your browser on this page.

What happens if count is zero or negative?

Count must be an integer of at least one; values below one never produce an empty success.

What if I omit the separator?

The default separator is empty, so copies are concatenated with no characters between them (for example ha three times becomes hahaha).

Can I send an empty text string?

Provide at least one character in the text field.

Is the result the same every time for the same input?

Yes. The transform is pure and deterministic: no network, no randomness, and no clock. The same text, count, and separator always yield the same repeated string.

Everything on this page is available programmatically. This section is for teams who want to wire it into their own systems; everyone else can just use the tool above.

POSThttps://api.kit.forhosting.com/str/repeat

Prefer to automate it? One authenticated POST creates the task; the result comes back by webhook or a signed link. The same capability also runs here on the web, by email and from Telegram — and soon from our app too.

curl -X POST https://api.kit.forhosting.com/str/repeat \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $KIT_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.

This repeat-text tool takes any non-empty string and a positive integer count, then returns the string written that many times in a row. Count values below one are rejected with a clear invalid_input error so a zero or negative repeat cannot become a silent empty success.

What string repetition means and what the response contains

The engine either builds a complete repeated string inside the supported limits or rejects the request with invalid_input. Rejected cases include a missing text field, an empty string, a missing count, a count below one, non-integer counts, objects and arrays that are not plain text, and any combination whose projected output length exceeds the documented maximum.

How the fields are read and how the result stays reproducible

Separator is optional under separator, sep, delim, joiner, or glue, and defaults to the empty string so bare concatenation remains the zero-config path. Finite numbers and bigints for text are stringified first so a bare product code typed as a number still repeats cleanly after conversion to decimal digits. Length limits apply to the source string, the count ceiling, and the projected output size: a runaway paste or an oversized count fails with an explicit limit message rather than a truncated silent cut. The preferred text field is text, but aliases input, string, value, content, and s are accepted so query strings, spreadsheets, and typed forms can reuse the same contract without renaming columns. Count is required and accepted under count, n, times, or repeats; it must be an integer from one through the documented maximum, and any value below one fails with invalid_input naming the rule so callers know zero and negative repeats are never treated as empty success. Booleans, plain objects, and arrays for text are rejected with a clear message so a mistaken JSON body does not become the word TRUE or an unhelpful object dump. Pair the free browser run on this page with the priced API when you need the identical repeated string inside an automated pipeline without shipping your own string helpers.

Where text repetition fits in study, design, and software

On this page the work runs entirely in your browser; through the API each successful conversion costs $0.002, failed validation is not charged, and nothing is stored after the response returns. That split—free interactive exploration and a priced, identical API—matches the rest of the KIT tier-A catalog and lets you move from a classroom demo to an automated pipeline without changing the string result.
