Easter is a movable feast; Easter Sunday is fixed by the Anonymous Gregorian computus between 22 March and 25 April, so Easter Monday always falls between 23 March and 26 April inclusive. In many countries Easter Monday is a public holiday used for school calendars, payroll leave tables, and retail planning. Small checks you may already know include year 2024 mapping to 1 April, year 2025 mapping to 21 April, and year 2000 mapping to 24 April.
What Easter Monday is and when it falls
Easter Monday is the civil weekday immediately following Gregorian Easter Sunday. Western churches that follow the Gregorian calendar compute Easter Sunday with an ecclesiastical rule that reduces to a short chain of integer steps; this calculator then advances that Sunday by exactly one day on the proleptic Gregorian calendar in UTC, without time zones or local clocks. The result is always a Monday in late March or April of the civil year you supply: the earliest possible Easter Monday is 23 March and the latest is 26 April.
Orthodox Easter Monday, which follows a Julian-based ecclesiastical calendar and often falls on a different Monday, is intentionally out of scope. If you need only Easter Sunday, week numbers, or multi-format date parsing, use those dedicated tools; this page answers only the Gregorian Easter Monday for a validated year.
How the year is read and how the computus stays reproducible
Numeric strings with optional leading plus or minus signs are accepted when they parse as integers; decimal points, hex prefixes, and empty strings are rejected with a clear message so a bad cell does not become a wrong public holiday. After parsing, the year must be at least one: years below one are rejected because the Gregorian Easter tables and the Anonymous algorithm as published target the proleptic Gregorian year range used here, and this product surface does not invent BCE handling.
The upper bound is nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine to match other calendar helpers in the catalog. From a valid year the engine runs the Anonymous Gregorian steps a through m using only floor division and modulo arithmetic to obtain Easter Sunday, then adds one civil day: if Sunday is the thirty-first of March, Monday is the first of April; otherwise the month stays the same and the day increments by one. Intermediate values stay ordinary JavaScript safe integers for the entire supported year span.
Where Easter Monday dates fit in planning, payroll, and software
Schools, churches, and cultural calendars need Easter Monday once Easter Sunday is known, because many civil jurisdictions treat the Monday as a statutory holiday for spring breaks and office closures. Payroll and HR systems in Europe and parts of the Americas must mark Easter Monday as non-working for leave balances and overtime rules; a single authoritative date per year is safer than copying wiki tables into spreadsheets that go stale.
Retail and hospitality teams plan seasonal promotions around the March or April window and want Monday as well as Sunday when staffing holiday weekends. Developers call the same contract from scripts to seed holiday tables, to generate deterministic test vectors for payroll systems that observe Easter Monday, or to satisfy product requirements that demand a computus-backed date rather than a hard-coded list. Educators use the tool to show how Sunday plus one day follows from a medieval-looking rule without opaque calculator apps.
Pair it with Gregorian Easter Sunday or other free deterministic date helpers when you are assembling a small lab of calendar utilities for teaching, compliance, or product features.
What you can do with it
Public holiday and school calendars
Compute Western Easter Monday for any year to place spring public holidays, school breaks, and movable feast labels without hard-coded tables.
Education and computus demos
Show students how the Anonymous Gregorian algorithm maps a year to Easter Sunday, then how Monday is simply the next civil day.
FAQ
What does the Easter Monday date calculator cost?
It is free in your browser on this page.
How is Easter Monday computed?
Gregorian Easter Sunday is obtained with the Anonymous Gregorian computus (Meeus/Jones/Butcher integer form), then the engine adds exactly one civil day.
What happens if the year is below 1?
Years must be integers from 1 to 9999.
Does this compute Orthodox Easter Monday?
No. It only returns Gregorian (Western) Easter Monday. Orthodox Easter uses a different ecclesiastical calendar and is out of scope.
What date range can Easter Monday fall in?
Gregorian Easter Monday always falls between 23 March and 26 April inclusive of the year you supply, one day after Easter Sunday.

Technical notes
This Easter Monday date calculator takes a single Gregorian calendar year and returns the civil date of Easter Monday for that year: the day immediately after Western (Gregorian) Easter Sunday.
What Easter Monday is and what the response contains
This tool accepts one required field, year, as an integer from one through nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine, then returns the normalized year, month number three or four, day of month, a YYYY-MM-DD date string for Monday, a readable month name, an iso_date echo, the related easter_sunday date string for transparency, the algorithm tag anonymous_gregorian_plus_one, and a short formula reminder. There is no lunar ephemeris table download, no timezone shift, and no floating approximation of the full moon: either the year is in range and the March or April fields are fully determined, or the request fails with invalid_input. Rejected cases include a missing year, non-integer tokens, years below one, and years above the documented ceiling.
How the year is read and how the computus stays reproducible
The preferred field is year, but aliases y, capital Y, and yr are accepted so spreadsheets, query strings, and typed forms can reuse the same contract without renaming columns. Pair the free browser run on this page with the priced API when you need the identical Easter Monday date inside an automated pipeline without re-implementing ecclesiastical rules yourself.
Where Easter Monday dates fit in planning, payroll, and software
On this page the work runs entirely in your browser; through the API each successful lookup costs $0.002, failed validation is not charged, and nothing is stored after the response returns. That split — free interactive exploration and a priced, identical API — matches the rest of the KIT tier-A catalog and lets you move from a one-off check to a multi-year holiday generator without changing the mathematical result.
