Product of digits calculator

The digits of 234 multiply to 24, because 2 × 3 × 4 = 24. Enter zero or any positive whole number and get the product of its digits in a single pass, with every digit used exactly once. Free in your browser.

The product of digits is found by taking every decimal digit in a non-negative integer and multiplying those digits together. Enter zero or any positive safe integer in ordinary decimal notation. The calculation is deterministic, uses no network or stored state, and rejects negative numbers instead of silently discarding their sign.

How to calculate the product of decimal digits

Start with the ordinary base-ten representation of the number and separate it into individual digits. For 234, the digits are 2, 3, and 4, so the result is 2 × 3 × 4 = 24. The order does not change the answer because multiplication is commutative, but every digit must be included exactly once.

This capability performs the same procedure through repeated division by ten: it takes the remainder as the current digit, multiplies that digit into an accumulator, removes the digit, and continues until nothing remains. Zero receives explicit treatment as the one-digit numeral 0, so its digit product is 0. The input must be a non-negative safe integer.

Decimal fractions, scientific notation strings, empty values, and negative integers are rejected rather than rounded or reinterpreted. That strict contract keeps classroom answers and automated checks predictable. The response is the single numeric product, without intermediate digits or unrelated metadata, so it can be used immediately in another calculation.

Why zero digits matter

Any multi-digit number containing a zero has a digit product of zero. For example, 105 contains the factors 1, 0, and 5; because multiplication by zero produces zero, the final answer is zero. This is different from a digit sum, where the zero contributes nothing but the other digits still determine a nonzero result.

It is also important not to confuse the number zero with an empty sequence of digits. Inputs with internal or trailing zeroes follow the same rule naturally. The implementation does not convert the number into locale-formatted text, so grouping commas, spaces, currency signs, and localized numerals are not accepted as part of n.

Use a plain integer value or a string of ASCII decimal digits.

Using the result in exercises and software

Digit products appear in introductory loop exercises, recreational number theory, persistence investigations, interview questions, and programming-contest problems. This capability handles one multiplication pass only. It does not repeatedly multiply the resulting digits until a single digit remains; that related measurement is called multiplicative persistence and has a different output and search intent.

Data pipelines can also derive a compact numeric feature from identifiers when that simple arithmetic transformation is explicitly desired, though a digit product is not a secure checksum and should never be used to detect intentional tampering. Execution is pure and deterministic: there is no model, network access, random source, or clock involved. The same valid n always yields the same numeric value.

What is the product of digits?

It is the result of multiplying every decimal digit in an integer. For 234, the product is 2 × 3 × 4 = 24.

What happens when the number contains zero?

The result is zero because one of the factors is zero. For example, the product of the digits in 105 is 0.

What is the digit product of zero?

Zero is represented by the single decimal digit 0, so its digit product is 0.

Does this calculate multiplicative persistence?

No. It performs one multiplication pass and returns that product. It does not repeatedly process the result.

What is the product of the digits of 234?

It is 24. The digits are 2, 3 and 4, and 2 × 3 × 4 = 24. The order of the digits does not change the answer, but each one must be multiplied in exactly once.

POSThttps://api.kit.forhosting.com/numth/digit-product

Prefer to automate it? One authenticated POST creates the task; the result comes back by webhook or a signed link. The same capability also runs here on the web, by email and from Telegram — and soon from our app too.

curl -X POST https://api.kit.forhosting.com/numth/digit-product \

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.

Why zero digits matter

In decimal notation, zero has one digit, and that digit is zero, so this calculator returns 0 for n = 0. Keeping the accepted representation narrow prevents punctuation from being mistaken for digits and ensures that the browser executor and API produce exactly the same answer for every valid input.

Using the result in exercises and software

Browser use is free, while an API request costs $0.002. Invalid negative or malformed input fails with invalid_input instead of producing a misleading result.

Build programming test fixtures

Generate a deterministic reference result for implementations that multiply decimal digits.

Can I enter a negative number?

No. Negative values are rejected with invalid_input; the minus sign is not ignored.

What does the API request cost?

The browser calculator is free. Each successful API request uses the published base price of $0.002.
