A printable month calendar is more than a day count: you need the month laid out as weeks so planners, school sheets, and UI mockups can place each date under the right weekday column. This printable month calendar generator takes a Gregorian year and a month from one to twelve, computes how many days the month has (including leap-year February), finds the weekday of the first day with pure integer arithmetic, and pads leading and trailing cells so the grid always has seven columns. You can choose which weekday starts the week—Sunday by default, or Monday for ISO-style layouts—so the same month can be rendered for different regions without reimplementing calendar math. Months outside one through twelve fail with a clear invalid input error and are not charged.

From a month to a printable grid

A wall calendar or a planner page needs the month laid out in weeks, so that every date sits under the right weekday. The generator takes a year and a month, works out how many days the month has, including February 29 in leap years, and finds the weekday of the 1st. It then fills week rows of seven cells, leaving empty cells before the first day and after the last one. February 2024, for instance, has 29 days and starts on a Thursday, so with Sunday-first weeks the grid has 5 rows: four empty cells and then the 1st to the 3rd in the first row, and the 29th on the Thursday of the last row, followed by two empty cells.

Choosing the week start and avoiding misprints

Weeks start on Sunday by default, as on many US wall calendars, but you can pick Monday for ISO-style layouts or any other weekday; the column headers and the empty cells move with your choice. The classic misprint is assuming the 1st always sits in the first column, which shifts the whole sheet by a day or more. Another is forgetting February 29 in a leap year. Month numbers outside 1 to 12 are refused instead of rolling over into another month, so a typo cannot quietly misprint a page. The same year and month always give the same grid, for classroom sheets, home printing or a month view in an app.

Printable planners and wall sheets

Design tools and home-print pipelines build a month grid with correct weekday columns and empty padding cells ready for PDF or paper layouts.

Classroom and homework calendars

Teachers generate a month view for assignment sheets with Sunday-start or Monday-start weeks without reimplementing leap-year and weekday math.

App UI month widgets

Front ends render a month picker body from structured week rows and rotated headers instead of relying on locale-sensitive Date quirks.

Can I start the week on Monday?

Use 0 for Sunday (default), through 6 for Saturday. Headers and padding rotate to match.

What happens if month is outside 1–12?

Months must be integers from 1 (January) to 12 (December); out-of-range values are rejected and not charged.

Is the printable month calendar generator free?

The browser tool runs free on your device.

How many week rows will my month take?

The result states how many rows the month needs, for example 5 for February 2024 with Sunday-first weeks, so you can size the page or the planner before printing.

Why are there empty cells at the start and end of the grid?

They keep every row seven columns wide, so each date sits under its correct weekday. February 2024 begins on a Thursday, so a Sunday-first grid leaves four empty cells before the 1st.

Everything on this page is available programmatically. This section is for teams who want to wire it into their own systems; everyone else can just use the tool above.

Prefer to automate it? One authenticated POST creates the task; the result comes back by webhook or a signed link. The same capability also runs here on the web, by email and from Telegram — and soon from our app too.

curl -X POST https://api.kit.forhosting.com/date/month-calendar \

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.

The response returns structured week rows, rotated English weekday headers, and stable labels for pipelines.

Year, month, and configurable first weekday

Send two required integers: year in the supported Gregorian range, and month as one for January through twelve for December. Optional first_weekday is an integer from zero through six where zero means Sunday, one means Monday, and six means Saturday; omit it to keep the common Sunday-start layout used on many printable wall calendars in the United States. Aliases y and yr for year, m and mon for month, and week_start or start_weekday for the week origin are accepted when documented. Identical inputs always produce identical JSON because the path is pure integer logic with no network, no random seed, and no wall clock. Missing fields, non-integers, years outside the published bounds, first_weekday outside zero through six, and any month less than one or greater than twelve raise invalid_input so callers can fix the request instead of receiving a silently rolled-over month that would misprint an entire sheet.

Reading weeks, headers, and day padding

Because padding is explicit nulls, renderers never have to recompute column offsets themselves. On success the response echoes the normalized year and month, a month_name string in English for titles, and days_in_month as the integer length of that month. The is_leap_year flag reports whether the year is a Gregorian leap year even when the month is not February. first_weekday and first_weekday_name describe the week origin you requested; first_of_month_weekday and its name locate day one on the absolute Sunday-through-Saturday scale so UIs can highlight the true start without guessing. weekday_headers is a seven-element array of English weekday names rotated so the first column matches your first_weekday—for example Monday through Sunday when first_weekday is one. The weeks array is the heart of the contract: each entry has a week_index and a days array of length seven where each slot is either a day number from one through days_in_month or null for empty padding before the first and after the last. week_count is the number of rows, typically four to six. calendar is always gregorian and method is always month_calendar for stable branching in tests. Use weekday_headers for table column titles, weeks for the body cells of a printable grid, and days_in_month when you also need a caption with the month length.

API usage, pricing, print workflows, and practical limits

Call the free in-browser printable month calendar generator for lesson plans, family planners, design mockups, and quick verification without installing calendar libraries. Keep months strictly in one through twelve so bad form values surface early instead of wrapping into the next year. Year bounds follow the published parameter range for isolate safety and common civil use. Send a JSON body with required integer fields year and month, plus optional first_weekday when you need a Monday-start or other regional layout. Use the prepaid API when a print pipeline, classroom generator, scheduling product, or multi-tenant planner needs a stable contract under KIT balance at $0.002 per successful item; validation failures never consume balance after the engine rejects the payload. Pair this endpoint with a days-in-month check when you only need length, or with invite builders when the next step is an event file rather than a month grid—those are different search intents and different products. Authors shipping SDKs can map weeks into HTML tables or PDF cells column by column using weekday_headers as thead labels and null slots as empty cells ready for print CSS.

How do I generate a printable month calendar?

Send JSON with year and month (1–12). The response includes weeks (each with seven day slots), weekday_headers, and days_in_month for a full grid layout.

Does February account for leap years?

Yes. The grid uses Gregorian leap rules so leap Februaries have 29 days and the weekday of the 1st is computed with pure integer arithmetic, not the host Date object.
