Maple syrup recipes often specify volume in US cups while kitchen scales, nutrition tools, and production sheets expect mass in grams. This converter bridges those formats with one transparent fixed constant: one US cup of maple syrup equals 315 grams. Enter any finite, non-negative number of cups, including zero or a decimal fraction, and receive the calculated mass along with the factor and formula used. The function is deterministic and performs no network lookup, so identical input always produces identical output. Negative values, missing values, text, NaN, and infinity are rejected as invalid input instead of producing a misleading kitchen measurement.

How the maple syrup conversion is calculated

This converter uses a deliberately simple formula: grams equals US cups multiplied by 315. The number 315 is the capability’s fixed grams-per-US-cup constant for maple syrup. For example, one cup becomes 315 grams, one-half cup becomes 157.5 grams, and one and one-half cups become 472.5 grams.

A volume-to-mass conversion needs an ingredient-specific factor because cups measure occupied volume while grams measure mass. A cup of flour, water, and maple syrup therefore cannot share one reliable gram value. By narrowing the calculation to maple syrup, this tool removes the ingredient choice and makes the exact assumption visible in every successful response.

The constant does not change between calls, and the function does not consult a product label, external density database, current temperature, or syrup grade. That stability is useful for repeatable recipe scaling, automated tests, and production records. It also means the result is a standardized culinary estimate rather than a laboratory measurement of the particular syrup in your bottle.

If exact batch mass matters, weigh the ingredient on a calibrated scale; when a consistent recipe conversion is the goal, apply the returned value directly.

When a fixed cups-to-grams value is useful

Home cooks can convert an American recipe before placing a mixing bowl on a gram-based digital scale. Bakers can scale pancake batter, glazes, cookies, granola, and maple fillings without repeatedly searching a general ingredient chart. Recipe publishers can generate a consistent metric line beside a US volume line, while application developers can normalize cup-based user input before combining ingredients in gram-oriented shopping lists or nutrition workflows.

Small food businesses can use the same conversion in costing sheets when their internal convention is 315 grams per cup, although purchasing and regulatory records should still follow actual package weights and applicable labeling rules. Real maple syrup density can vary somewhat with composition and temperature, and a physical cup may be filled imperfectly, so this tool does not claim laboratory precision. It also does not convert maple-flavored pancake syrup, honey, molasses, sugar, flour, or other ingredients, whose densities differ.

Use it when the source quantity is explicitly in US cups and the desired result is a consistent maple syrup estimate in grams.

Scale a maple recipe

Turn the cup quantity in pancakes, glaze, granola, or cookies into grams before multiplying the batch.

Publish dual-unit recipes

Generate a consistent gram measurement beside a US cup measurement using one documented maple syrup factor.

Automate ingredient normalization

Convert cup-based maple syrup entries into gram values for shopping lists, costing sheets, or recipe software.

How many grams are in one US cup of maple syrup?

This converter uses a fixed value of 315 grams for one US cup of maple syrup.

Can I enter a fraction of a cup?

Yes. Enter the fraction as a numeric decimal, such as 0.5 for one-half cup or 0.25 for one-quarter cup.

Why is numeric text rejected?

Rejecting text avoids silently interpreting whitespace, fractions, unit labels, or other ambiguous formatting.

Is this an exact measurement for every maple syrup?

No. It is a deterministic culinary conversion based on the fixed 315 g-per-cup constant; actual density can vary with the product and conditions.

Why can't I use the same cups-to-grams figure as for flour or water?

Cups measure volume and grams measure mass, so every ingredient needs its own factor. A cup of flour, water or maple syrup weighs a different amount; 315 g per cup is the maple syrup figure.

Everything on this page is available programmatically. This section is for teams who want to wire it into their own systems; everyone else can just use the tool above.

What to enter and how to read the result

Whole values and decimal fractions are valid, so inputs such as 2, 0.25, and 1.75 work without converting the fraction beforehand. Zero is also accepted and returns zero grams. The input must be a finite number and must not be negative. Numeric-looking text is intentionally rejected because the contract requires a number, preventing whitespace, formatting symbols, or accidental units from being silently interpreted. Do not include cup symbols or words in the field; send 0.5 rather than a string such as “1/2 cup.” Send the cups field as a JSON number representing US cups of maple syrup. Missing cups, null, arrays, objects, booleans, NaN, infinity, and negative quantities return an invalid_input error. A successful response includes the accepted cups, the computed grams, grams_per_cup set to 315, the ingredient name, the gram unit, and the formula. Those supporting fields make the response auditable: a recipe service can store not only the answer but also the factor that created it. Successful API use costs $0.002 per item, while the page can run the same pure calculation locally.

When a fixed cups-to-grams value is useful

Each successful API request is priced at $0.002; validation errors clearly identify unusable input rather than returning a plausible but incorrect mass.

What does the API conversion cost?

Each successful API item costs $0.002. The browser tool can run the same pure calculation locally.
