Calculate name numerology value

Type a name and see its Pythagorean numerology number with the working shown: Ada Lovelace uses 11 letters, adds up to 36 and reduces to 9. Accents, spaces and punctuation are handled for you. Free in your browser.

Enter a name to calculate its numerology value with the standard Pythagorean letter-to-number system. The calculator normalizes common accented Latin letters, ignores spaces and punctuation, adds every mapped value, and reduces the total to one digit unless it reaches the master number 11, 22, or 33. Along with the final value, the response shows the normalized letters, number of letters, unreduced total, and whether the result is a master number, making the calculation transparent and easy to verify.

Prepare the name for a consistent calculation

Enter the name exactly as you want to evaluate it, whether that is a given name, a full name, a professional name, or another familiar form. The calculator uses letters from A through Z. Before mapping them, it converts lowercase letters to uppercase and normalizes common accented Latin characters to their base letters, so José is evaluated as JOSE.

Spaces, hyphens, apostrophes, periods, digits, and punctuation are ignored because they have no value in the Pythagorean table. The capability does not guess which version of a person’s name is spiritually or culturally preferred; it computes the text supplied. A request must contain at least one mappable letter.

For repeatable comparisons, choose a naming convention first and apply it to every candidate.

Follow the Pythagorean mapping and reduction

The standard Pythagorean mapping assigns the numbers 1 through 9 repeatedly across the alphabet. A, J, and S have value 1; B, K, and T have value 2; C, L, and U have value 3; D, M, and V have value 4; E, N, and W have value 5; F, O, and X have value 6; G, P, and Y have value 7; H and Q have value 8; and I and R have value 9. Every normalized letter contributes once, including repeated letters.

The calculator adds those contributions and exposes that unreduced amount as total. It then sums the decimal digits whenever the amount has more than one digit. For example, a total of 47 becomes 4 + 7, producing 11.

Reduction stops at a single digit or at 11, 22, or 33, which are conventionally retained as master numbers rather than reduced again.

Interpret and integrate the result responsibly

Use the result as a consistent numerology calculation rather than a factual assessment of personality, compatibility, talent, or future events. Numerology is a belief and entertainment framework, and different traditions may choose different alphabets, name forms, master-number rules, or interpretations. This capability intentionally answers a narrow computational question: what value follows from the supplied name under the documented Pythagorean mapping and the 11, 22, and 33 stopping rule?

Its deterministic design makes that answer convenient for calculators, content experiences, comparison tables, and automated workflows. If your project follows Chaldean numerology, preserves a different set of master numbers, or maps a non-Latin writing system directly, use a calculator designed for that convention rather than treating these results as interchangeable.

Compare name spellings

Calculate several spellings or name forms under one documented mapping and compare their totals and reduced values.

Build a numerology profile

Add a transparent Pythagorean name-number calculation to an entertainment or personal-interest profile.

Check a manual calculation

Verify the normalized letters, unreduced total, final value, and master-number status without adding each letter by hand.

Which numerology system does this calculator use?

It uses the standard Pythagorean system, assigning 1 through 9 repeatedly across the Latin alphabet.

Which master numbers are preserved?

Reduction stops when it reaches 11, 22, or 33. Other multi-digit totals continue reducing.

Do spaces and punctuation affect the result?

No. Only normalized letters A through Z contribute; spaces, hyphens, apostrophes, digits, and punctuation are ignored.

How are accented names handled?

Common accented Latin letters are normalized to their base A–Z forms before values are assigned.

Why do two spellings of my name give different numbers?

Every letter counts once, so adding a middle name, an initial or a married surname changes the total and often the final value. The result lists the letters that were used, so you can see exactly where two versions differ.

Everything on this page is available programmatically. This section is for teams who want to wire it into their own systems; everyone else can just use the tool above.

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.

Prepare the name for a consistent calculation

The returned normalized_letters field shows precisely which characters contributed, while letter_count reports how many were used. This visibility matters when comparing variants such as a middle name, an initial, a married surname, or a brand spelling. Blank input, punctuation alone, or text with no A–Z equivalent produces an invalid_input error instead of returning a meaningless zero.

Follow the Pythagorean mapping and reduction

The value field contains that final result, and is_master_number states whether the stopping point is one of those three values. This explicit output avoids hiding differing numerology conventions behind a bare number.

Interpret and integrate the result responsibly

The same input produces the same fields in the browser and through the API because the calculation uses no network service, date, timezone, or random choice. A successful API calculation costs $0.002 per item, while the browser version can be used freely for an immediate lookup. Store normalized_letters and total beside value when auditability matters; those fields explain why two spellings differ and help identify an accidental omitted letter.

What happens if the name has no letters?

The request returns an invalid_input error because a numerology value cannot be calculated without a mappable letter.

How much does an API calculation cost?

Each successful API item costs $0.002; the browser calculator is free to use.
