Logical AND calculator

True AND true is true; true AND false, false AND true and false AND false are all false. Combine two conditions, such as accepted the terms and confirmed the age, and get a result you can trust, with no hidden conversions. Free in your browser.

Use it to validate rule pairs, test gate conditions, or teach the truth table with a tool that behaves exactly like the formal definition.

The four rows of the AND truth table

Logical AND, also called conjunction and written A ∧ B, combines two true-or-false conditions into one answer. Its truth table has exactly four rows. True AND true gives true, while true AND false, false AND true and false AND false all give false. Put simply, the answer is true only when both conditions hold at the same time. The operation is commutative, so swapping the two values never changes the result; associative, so a longer chain of ANDs can be grouped in any order; and idempotent, so A AND A is just A.

Where a strict AND helps

A typical use is a double check: a feature should switch on only when a global switch is on and the account is eligible, or a form should go through only when the person has both accepted the terms and confirmed their age. Most mistakes here come from values that merely look like true or false, such as the text false, which many programs treat as true, or a 1 and a 0. This calculator accepts only genuine true and false values and stops with a clear message otherwise. It takes exactly two values, and it does not work on whole numbers bit by bit.

What a logical conjunction actually is

Conjunction is the binary operation written A ∧ B in logic and as the && operator in most programming languages. Its truth table has exactly four rows: true AND true is true, and the other three combinations — true AND false, false AND true, false AND false — are all false. The operation is commutative, associative and idempotent, which means A AND B equals B AND A, chains of ANDs can be grouped in any order, and A AND A is just A.

If you send two genuine booleans you receive the conjunction plus an echo of both operands, so the response is self-describing and safe to log or store as the record of a decision. Everything about the computation is deterministic: the same two inputs always produce the same output, on the edge, in the browser, or in your own tests.

Gate a feature flag on two conditions

Combine a global kill switch with a per-account eligibility flag and enable the feature only when both evaluate to true.

Validate paired confirmations in a form

Check that a user both accepted the terms and confirmed their age before letting the submission through.

What does it return?

An object with both operands echoed back (a and b) and the result field, which is true only when both operands are true.

Can I chain more than two operands?

Not in one call — conjunction is associative, so AND of many values is just repeated pairwise AND. Call it once per pair or reduce the list in your own code.

Are my operands stored or logged?

No. The values are evaluated in memory and discarded; only the conjunction is returned.

Can I enter 1 and 0 instead of true and false?

No. Only genuine true and false values are accepted. A number, a piece of text such as the word false, or an empty entry is refused with a message saying which value was wrong, so a mistaken result never slips through.

Does the order of the two values change the result?

No. AND is commutative, so A AND B always equals B AND A. It is also idempotent, which means that combining a condition with itself, A AND A, simply gives A back.

Everything on this page is available programmatically. This section is for teams who want to wire it into their own systems; everyone else can just use the tool above.

Prefer to automate it? One authenticated POST creates the task; the result comes back by webhook or a signed link. The same capability also runs here on the web, by email and from Telegram — and soon from our app too.

curl -X POST https://api.kit.forhosting.com/math/and \

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.

The logical AND calculator takes exactly two boolean operands and returns their conjunction: true when both operands are true, and false in every other case. It is the smallest building block of boolean logic, exposed as a strict, deterministic endpoint that refuses anything that is not a real boolean — no truthy strings, no 1s and 0s, no silent coercion.

What a logical conjunction actually is

This endpoint implements precisely that definition over two operands and nothing more. It deliberately does not evaluate expressions, does not accept three operands, and does not perform bitwise arithmetic on integers.

Why the input validation is strict

JavaScript treats the string "false" as truthy, many APIs accept 1 and 0 as stand-ins for booleans, and a missing field silently becomes undefined, which is falsy — so a naive implementation quietly returns the wrong answer instead of complaining. The strictness is the feature. Most bugs around boolean logic come from coercion, not from the logic itself. This logical and calculator rejects all of that: each operand must be the JSON boolean true or false, and anything else — a string, a number, null, an object, an array, or a missing field — fails with a clear invalid_input error that names the offending operand. When a pipeline, a form, or a rules engine sends a value that only looks boolean, you want the call to fail loudly at the boundary rather than propagate a wrong true or false into an access decision, a pricing rule, or an eligibility check. Errors are never billed: a rejected request returns the error code and message and nothing else.

Where a two-operand AND earns its place

A single conjunction looks trivial until you count how often systems need one evaluated consistently in more than one place. Feature-flag services combine an enabled flag with a user-eligibility flag; form validators check that a box is ticked and a companion field is confirmed; monitoring gates fire only when two independent probes agree. Running that check through one shared endpoint — or through the free browser version of the same code — guarantees that every surface applies the same strict definition of boolean, instead of each client inventing its own coercion rules. The same module that powers the API runs on this page at no cost, so developers can prototype the exact behavior they will later automate, and educators can demonstrate the truth table live. When you do automate it, the call costs $0.002 per request, with no minimums and no storage of your operands: the values are evaluated and discarded, and only the conjunction is returned.

Teach the boolean truth table

Demonstrate conjunction live with a tool that applies the formal definition and rejects non-boolean shortcuts.

What does it cost?

$0.002 per request via the API. It is also free to run in your browser on this page, with the exact same code.

Which values are accepted as operands?

Only the JSON booleans true and false. Strings like "true", numbers like 1 or 0, null, objects and arrays are all rejected with an invalid_input error.

What happens if one operand is missing?

The request fails with an invalid_input error naming the missing field, and it is not billed.
